Miguel Andrade

About

Hello, my name is Miguel Andrade.

My passion for writing and photography has led me to work for well-known international publications such as The New York Times, Bon Appetit, Esquire, Wired, and Fool Magazine. Recently, I had the opportunity to contribute to the historical research and writing of Portugal: The Cookbook (Phaidon).

I am a researcher and traveler, and for the past decade, I have been exploring and writing about Portugal's vibrant restaurant scene. I am passionate about discovering the impact that Portugal has had on cuisine around the world and how those influences have shaped Portuguese cuisine over the centuries.

I have also worked in various roles, including event consulting, pop-up planning, and even as a barista at a chocolate shop.

Growing up, I had the privilege of living in different places such as Lisbon, Belgium, the UK, and San Francisco. Nevertheless, Lisbon has always held a special place in my heart, and it is where I now call home.

My family has a diverse background, with my maternal grandfather and his 12 siblings being born in Goa, India, and my paternal grandfather being born in the Azores, Portugal. My mother was born in Mozambique, and my father in Angola, and their love story began in Morocco.

Learning about my family's history has been a fascinating journey for me.

Thank you for taking the time to get to know me a little better!
